OSU Hoops: Vukovic Announces Return, Pair of Portal Players Visiting
OSU has five open spots on its roster, but that could change soon.
This time last year, the Cowboys had only started to pick up portal commitments, but now Steve Lutz and Co. are looking to put some finishing touches on next season’s roster.
Arturo Dean was OSU’s first commitment out of the portal last season, coming on April 24, 2024. By this April 24, OSU had added five portal players. OSU has 10 players on the roster, but they could add some more by the end of the weekend. With new roster limits being set, teams can carry 15 players.
UTSA transfer point guard Marcus “Smurf” Millender visited Oklahoma State on Thursday, according to a report from The Athletic’s Tobias Bass. As a sophomore for the Roadrunners last season, Millender averaged 14.9 points, three rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 31 games played. He shot 44% from 3 on 160 attempts. For reference, Chi Chi Avery last season took 161 3-pointers and made 35% of those. Another fun aspect to Millender’s game: He had 102 assists, 53 steals and 51 turnovers last season.
Millender spent his freshman season at South Alabama, where he was also productive — especially for a freshman. He averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game with the Jaguars.
Listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Millender is from Houston. He went to high school at Clear Brook.
OSU is also set to host UAB transfer Christian Coleman on Friday, news that was first reported by Pokes Report’s Zach Lancaster. Listed at 6-foot-8, 205-pounds, Coleman averaged 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds a game for the Blazers last season while shooting 53% from the field. He had six double-doubles this past season, including a 25-point, 11-rebound performance against Alabama A&M and a 21-point, 14-rebound game in the NIT against UC-Irvine.
Out of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Coleman’s post-high school career started at the junior college level, playing a season with LSU-Alexandria and another at South Plains College.
From last season’s roster, Andrija Vukovic on Thursday afternoon announced that he’ll be back for his sophomore season. A 6-foot-10, 245-pound freshman from Serbia last season, Vukovic appeared in 11 games, scoring 20 total points.
