OSU Offers 2019 LSU Running Back Pledge Tyrion Davis

Oklahoma State’s biggest need in its 2018 recruiting class is running back, but the staff isn’t dwelling on its inability to land a commitment in this cycle and is already looking to the 2019 class with a new offer on Wednesday to University Lab High School (Louisiana) standout Tyrion Davis.

Davis is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound standout from Baton Rouge — the heart of LSU country — so it should come as no surprise that he’s already pledged his loyalty to the Tigers with a verbal commitment back in June.

Already with offers from Alabama, LSU, Florida, Arizona State and others, Davis is a consensus four-star talent and ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 running back in the 2019 class.

“Tyrion Davis is a high-major running back prospect and one of top overall 2019 prospects in Louisiana,” Scout analyst Gabe Brooks said of the new OSU target. “He combines good size with impressive balance and cutback ability. He’s a vertical runner, but flashes impressive run-finishing strength as he lowers his pads for contact. He shows good top-end speed, especially for his size. Davis owns the size and athleticism to become a strong in blitz pickup and receiving out of the backfield with more opportunities to develop those skills.”

Davis seems pretty set on staying in-state, announcing he was “100% committed” to “#RBU” in his initial commitment to LSU. But as we’ve seen many times with recruits, minds can change and different situations can be enticing — especially if there’s early playing time available. But pulling a player of Davis’ caliber out of the heart of Baton Rouge would be a pretty significant feat for running backs coach John Wozniak.
