OSU Softball: Cowgirls Add Long Beach State Transfer Shortstop Selena Perez
‘She brings a level of experience on the left side of the infield that should make for a fun battle to watch this fall.’
Kenny Gajewksi has added a fourth player from the transfer portal this offseason.
Oklahoma State announced Monday that Long Beach State transfer shortstop Selena Perez has signed with the Cowgirls. She has been Long Beach State’s primary shortstop for the past three seasons, starting 140 games. She comes to Stillwater with a career batting average of .166 with 24 runs scored and 28 RBIs. She has a .938 career fielding percentage.
“We’re very happy to add Selena to the group,” Gajewski said in OSU’s release. “She brings a level of experience on the left side of the infield that should make for a fun battle to watch this fall.”
Perez joins Jayden Jones (Virginia Tech), Melina Wilkison (Indiana) and Kaya Booker (Georgia Tech) as portal pickups for the Cowgirls this year.
Out of Chandler, Arizona, Perez was a three-time first team all-conference selection at Vista Grande High School. She set a school record with 13 home runs as a high school senior, hitting .606 with 47 RBIs.
She started 47 games as a freshman at Long Beach State, hitting .174 with four runs scored and 11 RBIs. Perez started 45 games as a sophomore in 2024, hitting .157 with a career-best .952 fielding percentage in a season.
