The Cowgirls picked up some momentum in San Marcos on Saturday.

OSU defeated Kansas City 12-1 via historic run-rule Thursday morning before blanking the home team Texas State a couple hours later.

OSU 12, UMKC 1

Claire Timm set a program record as the first Cowgirl to record multiple career games with two or more triples. She went 3-for-3 with the pair of triples in the second and third innings, the second of which scored a runner. She also added a two-RBI single in the fourth.

As the score and inning count may indicate, the Cowgirls as a team didn’t take long to batter the scoreboard.

After three flyouts in the first, the Cowgirls drop three runs each in the next four innings to facilitate the mercy rule.

Freshman Jayelle Austin hit a home run, and Amanda Hasler, Timm and Karli Godwin each provided multiple runs batted in. All in all, the Cowgirls were 12-for-26 from the plate with 10 RBIs.

Freshman Preslee Downing allowed just one run in her second complete game of the season. She allowed three hits and struck out four in five innings in the circle.

OSU 5, Texas State 0

After a short break to enjoy their shortened game, Ruby Meylan pitched her own complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and adding seven Ks. Texas State had only three base runners in seven innings.

The Cowgirls took a little longer to get started but their bats came through again.

After her historic outing earlier in the day, Timm drove in two more runs against the Bobcats, going 2-for-3. Rosie Davis also added two RBIs and scored herself on Timm’s first single.

OSU went scoreless through two, scored on Timm’s two RBIs in the third and the fifth, and then Jayden Jones and Davis did the heavy lifting in the sixth. Jones’ single scored Melina Wilkinson, and then Davis’ single sent Aubrey Jones and Kaya Booker across the plate.

With the wins, the Cowgirls moved to 8-4 on the season. They’ll continue the River State Classic on Friday with an 11. a.m. meeting against Brown before squaring off with Colorado State at 6:30 p.m. They’ll finish out the event with a rematch versus Brown at 11 a.m. Saturday.
