OSU Wrestling: Cowboys Beat Air Force 34-6
OSU moves to 5-1 with a few Cowboys making their season debuts.
The Cowboys’ upper weights took care of business early and allowed the Pokes to flex some of their depth late.
Oklahoma State beat Air Force 34-6 on Friday night in Colorado Springs. The win moves the Cowboys to 5-1 early in the season. It also started the Cowboys’ conference schedule with Air Force being an affiliate member.
The dual started at 165 pounds, where No. 2 Dee Lockett pinned Sebastien Martinez in the third period after entering the frame up 18-5.

The snowball quickly got rolling downhill. Alex Facundo teched his opponent at 174 pounds to make it 11-0 before Zack Ryder picked up a major decision against No. 33 Brian Burburija to give the Cowboys a 15-0 lead.
Cody Merrill made it four OSU bonus-point wins in four matches when he majored No. 31 Karson Tompkins at 197 bounds. Then the red-hot Konner Doucet picked up a 22-6 technical fall victory. It was Doucet’s third technical fall already this season.
The Cowboys led 24-0 after five matches.
Coming off a four-match weekend at the National Duals Invitational, Taylor used some depth in the back half.
Penn State transfer Gary Steen (125), JJ McComas (141), Cutter Sheets (149) and Kody Routledge (157) all made their season debuts for the Cowboys.
Routledge was the standout. A freshman out of Edmond North High School, he earned a 15-6 major-decision win against EJ Beloncik. Routledge was a highly touted prospect and a two-time state champion.
Sheets won his match 5-2, while Steen dropped his bout 4-2 and McComas lost 6-4.
Richard Figueroa got the call at 133 after splitting time with freshman Ronnie Ramirez to this point in the season. A former national champion at 125 pounds, Figueroa earned his first win as a Cowboy, beating Gavin Caprella 8-6.
