Ranking the Modern Oklahoma State Baseball Uniforms
The best threads in the nation.
A take: The best uniforms in college sports (yes, sports) belong to Oklahoma State’s baseball team. There, I finally said it. Feels great.
I’m incredibly biased, of course, but I do have some evidence to back me up. OSU is constantly rolling out new (great) looks that shame the rest of the Big 12 (and the country).
When I first started this post I was going to try and rank every baseball uniform in OSU history. About 20 seconds into the exercise I realized that would be physically impossible. So I decided to simply rank the modern ones (last few years) with a nod to yesteryear at the bottom.
Let’s go.
1. The 1959s
These are comically good. The best throwback uni in recent OSU memory (even better than the 1988 football unis!) and a nice callback to OSU’s national championship year of 1959.
2. Orange Power
All orange? Awful. Orange tops, white bottoms with the interlocking OS hat? Absolutely elite. This is the baseball version of those 1988 throwbacks I mentioned earlier that OSU wore against Texas in 2018 when Tommy Herman lost his mind.
3. All-Black Everything
Well, not quite. But the black there’s perfect with the gray pants. The stripes from the collar to the belt buckle make this look, too. This would be No. 1 at most other schools.
4. Cowboys
Again, it’s astonishing that these could be ranked as low as No. 4, but here we are. I’m not positive, but it seems like these used to be a shade darker in the cream-colored department. Maybe it’s just the lighting here. Either way, they’re great.
5. All-Grays
People forget gray is a school color.
6. All-Whites
Works in football, doesn’t work in baseball for some reason. They’re not bad, but they’re just a little … too plain. And while I like that, it’s not one of their top three hats (see above).
The real delight for me in writing this post was rolling back through the media guide and finding every iteration of uniform I could going all the way back to the 1950s. There were some absolute gems, and I’ll post all of them below (the mid 2000s were a dark uni time for OSU).
