The Cowboys have been on a tear on the recruiting trail as of late, and now they have their quarterback.

Four-star passer Adam Schobel on Monday announced he was flipping his commitment from Baylor to Oklahoma State. Schobel is a consensus four-star recruit and is ranked as highly as the No. 203 player in the 2025 class and the No. 17 quarterback in the cycle.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds, Schobel hails from Columbus High in Columbus, Texas. Schobel’s Cardinals went 12-1 this past season, falling in Texas 3A-D1 regional round. He threw for 2,405 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior to only four interceptions. In the past three seasons combined, Schobel has thrown for 7,668 yards and 94 touchdowns.

Schobel committed to Baylor last June, but the Cowboys stayed on him. He attended OSU’s Junior Day in January and then took an official visit to Stillwater earlier this month.

His 247Sports rating of 90 makes Schobel the Cowboys’ highest-rated quarterback recruit since Spencer Sanders (93). He also becomes the highest-rated recruit in the Cowboys’ class. Last cycle, OSU had one player rated at a 90 in wide receiver Tre Griffiths.

He comes from a football family, as Schobel’s father, Matt Schobel, was a tight end at TCU before playing seven seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles. Matt finished his career with 117 catches for 1,270 yards and 12 touchdowns. Adam’s uncle, Aaron Schobel, was a defensive lineman at TCU before playing with the Buffalo Bills for nine seasons. Aaron was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and finished his career with 483 tackles, 98 tackles for loss and 78 sacks.

Schobel becomes the eighth commitment in the Cowboys’ 2025 class and pushes the Pokes into the Top 25 nationally at No. 23. That makes OSU’s class the No. 4 group in the Big 12.

The Cowboys have done an excellent job thus far putting weapons around Schobel in the class, as four wide receivers have already committed: Kameron Powell, Matrail Lopez, Jaden Perez and Royal Capell. Schobel also has two linemen already to keep him safe in Jaylan Beckley and Ryker Haff.
