Report: Marshall Transfer Receiver Christian Fitzpatrick Visiting Oklahoma State
Fitzpatrick led Marshall in receptions and receiving yards last season.
The Cowboys are reportedly hosting a big-bodied receiver from the transfer portal this week.
Marshall transfer Christian Fitzpatrick is visiting Oklahoma State on Wednesday and Thursday, according to a report from College Football Headlines that was confirmed by 247Sports. Fitzpatrick was listed at 6-foot-4, 217 pounds for the Thundering Heard this past season, where he caught 34 passes for 576 yards and six touchdowns.
Out of Southfield, Michigan, Fitzpatrick was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He went to Louisville out of high school over offers from Washington State, Boston College, Oregon, Penn State, Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Missouri and others.
He spent one season with the Cardinals before transferring to Michigan State, where he spent three seasons. He was used sparingly in his first two years as a Spartan, catching a combined four passes for 20 yards. But his final season in East Lansing was a solid one. He caught 18 passes for 252 yards and a score.
Fitzpatrick then transferred to Marshall and made an instant impact with the Heard, catching eight passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in his first two games this past season. He finished the season as Marshall’s leader in receptions, receiving yards and tied the lead for receiving touchdowns.
His eligibility was up in the air going into 2025, but he announced Monday that the NCAA had granted him another year of eligibility. The Cowboys didn’t wait long to bring him onto campus.
OSU has been active the the graduate transfer market for an outside wide receiver. Tennessee State transfer Karate Brenson (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) and Emory & Henry (D-II) transfer Cameron Abshire (6-foot-4, 185-pounds) have announced OSU offers. That desire to add another outside guy might further be expedited by the fact that OSU coach Mike Gundy on Tuesday announced that Talyn Shettron is out with injury this spring. The Cowboys added three receivers during the first transfer portal window, but Purdue transfer Shamar Rigby was the only one of those guys who is listed taller than 6 feet.
