OSU Recruiting: Spencer Sanders, C.J. Moore Lead Teams to Wins in Week 1

OSU opened up its season with a dominating win on Thursday night, and the headline talent committed to the Pokes in the Class of 2018 followed suit on Friday night.

Denton Ryan quarterback Spencer Sanders, coming off a season that was cut short due to an ACL tear, lead the pack with 313 yards through the air, 174 rushing yards and six total touchdowns in his team’s 57-40 win over Lancaster.

Here’s a look at some other notable week one performances from some of OSU’s skill talent.

  • Wide receiver CJ Moore recorded just 2 receptions in Union’s 38-7 win over Euless Trinity, but both went for touchdowns. He finished with 39 yards on the night in an easy win.

  • Wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd logged just one catch for 20 yards, but did so on a clutch 4th down play in the third quarter. Kilgore won a decisive season-opener over Nacogdoches 35-21.
  • Athlete Jaelyn Nolan lead Brownfield to 32 points as the quarterback, but fell short to Clyde 49-32. Although Nolan is committed to play at OSU as a cornerback, his athleticism is wildly impressive—especially coming off an ACL tear a season ago.
