The 10 Best Stats From OSU’s Week 2 Victory Over South Alabama

It was another big week for big stats.

Oklahoma State’s 55-13 victory against South Alabama included a lot more passing than initially expected, as Taylor Cornelius and receivers Tylan Wallace and Tyron Johnson all put up career highs. Here are the 10 best stats from another big OSU victory.

303: Tylan Wallace and Tyron Johnson combined for 303 receiving yards Saturday. That’s the most any two OSU receivers have combined for since the Cowboys’ game against Baylor last season when James Washington and Marcell Ateman combined for 354 yards.

10: Wallace’s 10 catches was the first double-digit reception outing an OSU player has had since Jalen McCleskey had 11 against West Virginia in 2016.

39: Speaking of McCleskey, with his two receptions Saturday, he has now caught a pass in 39 of his 41 career games.

7th: Taylor Cornelius becomes the seventh quarterback in OSU’s history to throw for at least 400 yards in a game. Cornelius went 25-for-40 with 428 yards a touchdown and two interceptions.

3: The Cowboys went for it on fourth down three times in the first half Saturday. The official stats say four times, but that is because Matt Hockett got a punt blocked. OSU was three-for-three on true fourth-down attempts. That’s one way to counter questions about special teams.

13: Despite what is considered a lackluster rushing game, the Cowboys have now outrushed their opponents in 13 of their past 16 games. OSU outrushed USA 164-78.

14: Redshirt junior kicker Matt Ammendola has made 14 straight field goals after going 2-for-2 against USA. He hit from 45 and 37 against the Jaguars. He is 3-of-3 this season despite shanking an extra point in Week 1.

29: Devin Harper’s pick-six in the third quarter made it 29 straight games in which the Cowboys forced a turnover. They have also done so in 38 of their past 39 games.

3rd: Harper’s pick-six was also OSU’s 43rd non-offensive touchdown scored since 2010. OSU is third in the country in that stat during that span.

1: The number of visors Mike Gundy dished out to South Alabama personnel. No, seriously.

But even after that, Gundy showed up to his presser with a visor on. How?
