The Final Draw (PFB+): Wendell Gregory Hasn’t Really Blown Up (Yet), but It’s Coming

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State blew just about everything up in the last week following the dismissal of long-time head coach Mike Gundy on Tuesday and the firing of first-year defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

With that in mind, this edition of the Final Draw could be a monster, but it just so happens that all this change occurs right when we finally have enough data to begin making some informed opinions of who the Cowboys are as a team.

Before facing the Bears, Oklahoma State played an FCS team, the No. 2 team in the country, and a Tulsa team that sits one spot from the bottom in its own conference.

So instead of hyperfocusing on Sam Jackson’s packages for the second time this weekend, let’s try to paint a picture of where the Cowboys are now and what might be getting better or worse.

Today’s Final Draw will examine:

  • Oklahoma State’s best and worst coverage defenders through four games. Do the Cowboys have an obvious weak link?
  • Other defensive observations, including a breakout to watch.
  • The good Trent Howland stat that makes Oklahoma State’s offense look bad.
  • Other offensive observations, including the player who disappeared the most on Saturday.

But first, let’s start with a little love for what Wendell Gregory is doing out there for Oklahoma State’s defense.

A legend in the making
