Vanessa Shippy Named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Nominee
Vanessa Shippy has another feat to add to her already impressive resume.
The season hasn’t begun, so everyone’s stats are the same, but Shippy is one of 50 players named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List. Twenty-two other seniors made the list, along with 18 juniors and nine sophomores (freshmen are ineligible for consideration).
Seven other Big 12 players made the list, five of whom play for the Sooners.
Shippy has never missed a game for OSU and has played every position on the field (she had a brief pitching appearance during the Cowgirls’ final fall game). She has earned All-American and All-Academic honors in each of the past two seasons.
The winner of the award will be announced May 29, and a list of 25 finalists will be revealed April 25.
