Vincent Taylor Signs With Miami for Four Years, $2.55 Million

Vincent Taylor signed his first NFL contract over the weekend for four years and $2.55 million. Great money if he can earn it. Taylog gets just over $154,000 in guaranteed money and could be cut at any time over the next few months.

“This level of play is way different from college,” said Taylor in his debut press conference. “Me coming from high school to college, I was amazed walking into a college locker room, and that’s kind of how it is right now walking into a NFL locker room. It’s different, it’s strictly business. I’m looking forward to coming into here and learning.”

Taylor steps into a situation in which he has an opportunity to thrive. One path to playing time for him is going to be on special teams after his five blocked field goals and extra points last year.

“At the Combine, they measured my hands at 10½ (inches),” Taylor said. “(I) blocked five field goals (and) my hands played a huge part in that. I think my hands are pretty big. I haven’t met (Ndamukong) Suh yet, but I’m pretty sure his hands would be probably bigger than mine.”

He noted again that Suh is a role model for him (at least on the field).

“One thing I can say is I can never try to be like him,” said Taylor. “I can only be the best Vincent Taylor I can be. I’ll try to get somethings from him and learn from him to try to make my game better.”

As for how he’s fitting in to his new home in South Beach, Taylor said he’s taken a liking to his new head coach Adam Gase.

“He’s very straightforward,” Taylor said of his new coach. “I like the two rules that he has. Do the right thing and be on time, and I think you’ll be pretty fine.”

Hopefully fine enough that Taylor will be playing regularly on Sundays for the Fins.
