You Can Vote for Tylan Wallace to Win the Biletnikoff Award
Don’t let your voice go unheard.
The Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top wide receiver in college football, is one that has been dominated by Oklahoma State. Only the Cowboys can stake claim to having two separate winners — James Washington and Justin Blackmon — and the latter won it in consecutive seasons beginning in 2010.
It’s not unrealistic to think it could add to that list with a third winner a year removed from Washington taking home the trophy, given Tylan Wallace’s stunning star-turn from backup to superstar.
Wallace is fifth nationally with 940 yards receiving this season through eight games, which ranks second among Power Five players on the list (behind Antoine Wesley of Texas Tech), and his catch radius has proven to be the size of Stillwater. Randy Moss has even taken notice of his pass-catching, Mossin’ abilities.
“He is a special player,” Mike Yurcich said of Wallace after this weekend’s showing against Texas, in which he brought in 10 receptions for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. “He’s got a knack for timing his jump up so he plays a lot taller than what he is, especially on vertical throws. He is a gamer. He loves it. The bigger the game, it seems the bigger he is going to play. He is just the guy that is very dependable. He plays the same way he practices. He is a fun guy to have on your ball club. He is a great example to everybody else of ‘you play like you practice’. He goes hard every day and the results are not surprising.”
According to Pro Football Focus, Wallace ranks fifth nationally this season with an 88.4 overall grade among all receivers with 25+ targets, which ranks third among Power Five players. There’s no debate: He is a legitimate, very real candidate to contend for the Biletnikoff. And believe it or not, the fan vote plays a role in whether or not that comes to fruition. (You may remember this from last year with Washington.)
The vote is largely determined by the voters of the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, but the fan vote also earns one extra vote towards the tally. So if you feel so inclined and believe Wallace is a Biletnikoff candidate, you can go to the link here to cast your vote. As of Thursday around 3:30, Wallace was trailing JJ Arcega-Whiteside by a wide margin and basically tied with Colorado product Laviska Shenault.
