PFB Picks: Oklahoma State-Oregon State

We’re going on record before OSU’s season opener.

The wait is finally over. We have an actual Oklahoma State football game that is being played tonight.

As far as our picks go, it’s a new year and a clean slate. So let’s go on the record and provide plenty of I told ya so fodder for next week.

First off, our predictions for the game itself.

Kyle Porter — Oklahoma State 49 | Oregon State 17: Chuba and Tylan could beat Oregon State by three TDs. A -15 line is silliness

Kyle Boone — Oklahoma State 69 | Oregon State 19: Oregon State does not stand a chance. Sorrey. This game will be over by halftime.

Kyle Cox — Oklahoma State 38 | Oregon State 28: The Cowboys will be feeling their way through their offense with new QB(s) and a new OC, and I say the other OSU scores late to make it look more interesting than it was, which is unfortunate because most of the world won’t stay up until 2 a.m.

Marshall Scott — Oklahoma State 52 | Oregon State 28: The spread has moved to 14, and I think that’s a little insulting to the Pokes. Oregon State lost its final four games of last season by an average of 27 points.

Seth Duckworth — Oklahoma State 41 | Oregon State 25: OSU runs the ball a lot which keeps it below the over, but Oregon State just isn’t very good, so OSU wins comfortably and beats the spread.

Player of the Game

Kyle Porter: Tylan. Let’s not overthink this.

Kyle Boone: *don’t say it don’t say it don’t say it* Fine. I’ll say it. Spencer Sanders. We don’t even know how many snaps he’ll play — if any — but if he’s as electric a playmaker at this level as he was in high school he’s going to wow my socks off. I am prepared.

Kyle Cox: I’m going to go with Chuba Hubbard. I think OSU get its most versatile playmaker involved early and ofter, and in various ways. Plus, Oregon State returns a defense that ranked 129th in rushing D last (out of 130 teams).

Marshall Scott: Tylan Wallace — It’s always interesting to see how non-Big 12 teams combat Big 12 schools’ ability to sling it. With QBs rotating, I think Tylan has a big day.

Seth Duckworth: Malcolm Rodriguez. Gotta go with the wrestler.

Which QB starts the game and which one finishes it?

Kyle Porter: I’ve been hearing a lot of conflicting things all week, but I rode Dru pretty hard in my season predictions so I’ll say he starts and finishes on Friday

Kyle Boone: In the single-longest con in program history, Mike Gundy trots Chuba Hubbard in the Wildcat to start the game, then closes the game by running the Wildfat with Johnny Wilson out of the shotgun.

Kyle Cox: I will go with Spencer Sanders to start because, why not? And I will say Dru Brown finishes but both see the field plenty and even together.

Marshall Scott: Dru Brown starts, and I’ll say Brendan Costello finishes with Sanders playing in between. As noted, I don’t think it’s going to be all that close, and I think Gundy might better utilize the redshirt rule this year.

Seth Duckworth: Brown starts and Sanders finishes. No idea why, just a gut instinct.
