The Oklahoma State football program recently got some good news from a Canadian, now the OSU basketball team is hoping for the same.

On Wednesday, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, out of Mono, Ontario, Canada, announced his intentions to visit Stillwater on an official basis. Moncrieffe will be in Gallagher-Iba Arena for OSU’s game against Kansas on Jan. 27.

He also announced a visit to Georgetown, where he’ll visit Patrick Ewing’s team on Feb. 4. He visited Seton Hall in early November.

At 6-foot-7, 195 pounds, Moncrieffe is a four-star small forward ranked 122nd nationally in the 247 Sports composite ranking, but he is all the way up to No. 55 in 247 Sports’ ranking.

Jerry Meyer, 247 Sports’ director of basketball scouting, projected Moncrieffe to be a future second-round pick in the NBA Draft.

A lanky, athletic, slashing small forward. Slippery on the drive with great body control. Can attack the basket with either hand and finishes well with either hand. Jump shot can keep defense honest. Can also find teammates while on the move. Great potential defensively and as a rebounder. Multipositional defender who can make plays with his activity. Expect to hear his name called in the second round of the NBA draft. [Meyer — 247 Sports]

If Moncrieffe were to commit today, it would move OSU’s class up to eighth in the country. That would rank tops among Big 12 schools. Mike Boynton’s current class of Cade Cunningham, Rondel Walker and Montreal Pena ranks 16th nationally and fourth in the Big 12.
