 There’s No Place Like…

Berry Tramel takes a stab at what was brewing underneath (or in front of) the Mullet.

Why would Gundy want to leave a place where he’s a made man, his alma mater, his family’s home, a program he’s built, for a place as likely as not to chew him up?

The answer is, Gundy almost surely doesn’t want to leave for Knoxville. He wants to stay in Stillwater. He just wants everyone to know he’s wanted. [NewsOK]

Was this all about the free marketing Gundy generates? The Knoxville papers should be referring to Gundy as their “The Runaway Bride”.

Fiddle Playing

Thoughts on the Tennessee-Gundy scenario that sounded interesting.

Gundy is about to play Tennessee, and maybe Oklahoma State, like a fiddle. He already turned down the Vols in 2012, when Tennessee was a much more attractive job than it is right now and when Oklahoma State was not as good of a job as it is now. OSU was in a great place in 2012, but it’s only gotten better each and every year with more success and improving facilities.

Plus, the relationship between Gundy, Mike Holder, and T. Boone Pickens appears to be as healthy as it’s been in quite some time. That wasn’t the case in 2012.

Most recently, Gundy reportedly turned down Florida’s job offer, according to The Sports Animals’ Pat Jones.

Guess what Vols fans? Florida is an immensely better job than Tennessee, which is what, maybe the 6th best job in the SEC at this point? [Heartland College Sports]

Tennessee was uglier than ever, therefore he could have run up the price. You have to think if that was a serious flirtation, Gundy would have given OSU a chance to meet him in the middle – AKA not Underwooding it.

The only thing that would have made sense to me is retiring at 55 sounds better than 60. Take the Tennessee blood money, buy a stake in Bass Pro Shops and ride the big green tractor. Thank goodness that’s not an issue.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Love Ryan McGee’s summary of rivalry weekend….Pete Carroll is hoping and praying to get Chris Carson back….Predictions for all the conference championship games….Former Baylor receiver Josh Gordon interviewed with SI – sold lots of drugs while in Waco ….A 2014 Cactus Bowl rematch in the Alamo would be fun

How many of these duos can Gundy crank out?

Sign me up for the father of the air raid as our OC. Reading this book on him currently and it’s fantastic.

Clearly #thankful for what midshipmen do but not sold on this new uni for the Army game.

Day in the life with Averette – can you quantify how much Underwood taking the OSU job made his life better? An OSU scholarship/experience versus Stephen F. Austin has to be unreal.

Pokes back at it tonight.
