Tayland Humphrey Spurns OSU, Commits to FIU
Big Saucy and Little Saucy will play together at the next level after all, but it won’t be at Oklahoma State.
On Friday, the elder Saucy joined his younger brother by shutting down his recruitment and committing to FIU, where brother John Bolding, a high school senior, committed earlier in the cycle.
Humphrey, a four-star defensive tackle from the JUCO ranks, held close to 30 offers from the likes of OSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Florida State and others. But his intentions from the start was to play alongside his younger brother, Bolding, a two-star offensive line recruit.
Despite many — including OSU — extending offers to Bolding in an effort to get the entire package deal, Humphrey seems to have sniffed out the situation and realized that the only real chance they could both play together was a school like FIU, where Humphrey will almost certainly dominate against inferior talent, and Bolding will be able to get PT in C-USA.
Adding Humphrey to the fold would have been a luxury, but not a necessity. OSU is bringing in just one DT for 2018 in high school defensive lineman Israel Antwine, who will sign next week as a DT. The Pokes also return Darrion Daniels, Enoch Smith, Taaj Bakari, Cam Murray, Brendon Evers, Latu Maile and Trey Carter from the current roster.
