Week of International Wrestling on Tap for Two Former Cowboys
Former Cowboy wrestlers Eddie Klimara and Alex Dieringer wrestle in two of the top international tournaments in the world in Cuba and Ukraine this week.
Eddie Klimara kicks it off first at the Granma y Cerro Pellado in Cuba which starts today. Eddie wrestles at 57 KG and is now with the Cavalier Wrestling Club at the University of Virginia. Klimara’s not in the world rankings and making the podium here would be absolutely huge for him as this is a big international tournament.

Alex Dieringer will be wrestling at the Outstanding Ukrainian Tournament in Kiev, Ukraine on Saturday, Feb. 24, and if he makes the final, Sunday.

Dieringer will be wrestling at 79 KG here. That is not an Olympic weight class and is not a weight that the “rankers” rank but in the last international rankings Flowrestling produced they listed Dieringer at No. 16 at 74 KG.
Alex is the biggest star out of Oklahoma State in a while and he’s still training in Stillwater, so in a lot of ways it’s really big for OSU if he can medal here, and he has the talent to do it. It’s really important for OSU to have guys around the program having international success. It’s big for the current room and big for the future of Cowboy wrestling.
Alex was scheduled to compete in Russia a few weeks ago and did not. I was never able to find out why but did confirm that he is in Ukraine and barring any unexpected issues he will wrestle here.
You can stream Dieringer on Trackwrestling.com.
