Oklahoma State Offers Four-Star 2019 Combo Guard from Virginia
Mike Boynton and Co. are looking to capitalize on their late-season surge on the recruiting trail.
This week, the staff extended an offer to top-100 Class of 2019 guard Trey McGowens — a 6-3 combo guard from Chatham, Virginia who plays for Hargrave Military Academy.
This has David Kontaxis written all over it. Kontaxis, an OSU assistant with ties in the Virginia area, has his fingerprint on OSU’s recruiting in the south. So while this offer geographically may feel like a stretch, it makes some sense.
And from a needs perspective, it makes even more sense.
McGowens is more point guard than combo guard, and he’s the fifth total offer at the position for OSU in the class of 2019.
He has offers from Clemson, Baylor, St. John’s and a bevvy of other high majors.
