OSU Recruiting: Son of Kenyatta Wright, Solomon, Picks up Offer From Cowboys
OSU trying to get in early with an in-state legacy recruit.
Oklahoma State is hoping to collect a commitment from the son of a former player in Solomon Wright, the offspring of former OSU star Kenyatta Wright, whom the Cowboys coaching staff extended a scholarship to this week.
The elder Wright was a star for the Pokes in the late 90s, recording 267 career tackles from the linebacker spot. One of the top linebackers in Oklahoma State history, he went on to enjoy a five-year NFL tenure with the Bills and Jets before calling it quits with football.
Wright’s eldest son has a chance to be a great one, too. Solomon is a Class of 2021 defensive tackle from Vian, Okla., where Kenyatta hails from, and he’s picking up some crootin’ steam of late with offers from OSU and Iowa State this past week alone.
At 6-foot, 255, Wright is dominant at the 2A level (as you can see from his clips below). It helps when people choose not to block him (for reasons I cannot explain), but even when lanky 2A athletes try to stay in front of him, they have no shot. He’s pretty skilled, sneaky fast, and embraces contact when it comes. He has the size of a defensive tackle, with the speed of an overqualified fullback (as Vian takes advantage of, it seems, by using him as a quasi-ball carrier).
OSU has been pretty busy overall in the 2021 class with multiple offers to offensive linemen, to defensive ends, linebackers and corners, but Wright appears to be the first official target of the class at defensive tackle. And he’s a good one, too.
