WSJ ($$$) has OSU as 373rd in their college rankings (way behind OU but ahead of K-State) and McNeese didn’t make the list. We all know who the best Cowboys are, beat the other Pokes.

OSU Bullets
Most Viewed of the Week (No. 1): Ten Thoughts on the Oregon State Win

We all rode the high that was a resolved quarterback battle, likely for 25 more games at a minimum. There were plenty of highlights to dwell on but my favorite of the ten was considering where this set of triplets could fit in amongst others in the Gundy Era. It’s entirely too early to call it at this point but it’s hard to imagine Sanders/Chuba/Tylan not being mentioned in the same conversation as the others – and that makes this season must-watch TV.

Most Viewed of the Week (No. 2): Grad Transfer D-Lineman, LaMarcus Morton Off the Team

In the numbers game of college football scholarships, there are 85 that go to 18 to 23-year-old young men (Tom Hutton excluded) – it’s bound to not work out for some. From what I gathered out there, Kyle Junior had some troubles getting in the necessary shape but nothing has leaked on Morton that I’ve seen.

Most Viewed of the Week (No. 3): Four (Potential) Overreactions to Game One

This was great – Boone nailed responses to the narratives flowing through all of our minds. The ones I needed to hear most involved taking it easy with the oil as I anoint Spencer Sanders the chosen one and giving it a bit more time on crucifying the defense for their lack of potential. Both call for more time and a greater sample size before conclusions can be drawn.

Most Viewed of the Week (No. 4): Gundy’s Thoughts after the OSU Win

One of the more interesting tidbits was a comment Gundy made about Sean Gleeson and the game he called. Gundy noted that he didn’t see much of a difference in the playcalling, just in the personnel that was out there.

To tell the difference between a Gleeson-called offense and a Mike Yurcich one will be tough to discern. As Gundy pointed out, a difference in personnel would dictate variation, as does a different group of receivers, a different offensive line (and coach).

All I know is if I see OSU starting to lean heavy on the bubble routes behind the line of scrimmage and run a draw play on third-and-long, I’ll know more about if it was Yurcich or the system.

Most Viewed of the Week (No. 5): Five Things We Learned after Oregon State

Cox astutely pointed out that this was the perfect game for where OSU is right now – a game with the training wheels on for a team that needs them. If you’re going to play the Power Five game first (with this iteration of the team), it was best to have a winnable game on the schedule for a chance to build, right?

I saw some commenters this week mentioning it’s good to be tested – absolutely. 2014 against Florida State was one of the most memorable non-conference games of the Gundy era, right? Can you imagine if it had been scheduled the year before? Or two years after when Rudolph was hitting his stride?

Non-OSU Bullets

• How this blogger differentiated between caring “passionately” versus “deeply” was thoughtful

• Liked this Ringer piece on franchise-changing shots – if only for the fact that I think it pushed OKC into the next iteration of itself while they were still able to get assets for a lot of its core

• Finished the fifth Harry Potter this week – easily the most skippable (after the first)

Incredible (heartbreaking) story of an Arkansas walk-on:
