Oklahoma State Taking Donations to Build T. Boone Pickens Statue
A permanent Boone memorial is in the works.
After long being rumored, a Boone Pickens statue is officially on the way.
Oklahoma State is taking donations to build a bronze statue of Pickens to put on campus. The statue is thought to be placed outside the west end zone of Boone Pickens Stadium.
The OSU Foundation is taking online donations for the T. Boone Pickens Memorial Fund between $10 and $50,000, but donations less than $10 or more than $50,000 can be made via phone at 800-622-4678.
Pickens’ Celebration of Life is at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. It’s open to the public, and Mike Gundy, Rickie Fowler, Mike Holder and others are scheduled to speak at it.
Pickens donated $652 million to Oklahoma State during his lifetime split between athletics and academics. He died at 91 on Sept. 11.
