Class of 2020 Power Forward Montreal Pena Makes OSU Official Visit
Is OSU about to become the Texas Titans?
With Cade Cunningham and Rondel Walker in the fold for Oklahoma State, the big question now is how the lauded 2020 recruiting class will look in its final stages.
The safe bet: bigger (literally).
The two top-100 guards will need to be surrounded with size and strength in the frontcourt, and that’s exactly where the OSU staff has turned its efforts. Right now all eyes remain on four-star power forward J.T. Thor of Georgia, but another name to keep an eye on in the coming days is three-star power forward Montreal Pena.
Pena made an official visit to OSU over the weekend, and even made it to the OSU-Yale game on Saturday. The 6-foot-9 Arlington product played for the Texas Titans on the AAU circuit, making him teammates with — you guessed it — Cade Cunningham and Rondel Walker.
Pena’s not the same blue-chipper as Cunningham or even as Walker, but he’s a big body with talent enough to be a productive Division I player. TCU and OSU have extended him a scholarship offer during his recruitment.
Keep an eye on both him and Thor as the early signing period wraps up this week (Boynton is expecting more before Wed.). Especially with Pena coming off an official visit, knowing two close teammates at the AAU level could be potential teammates with him at the next one as well.
