Oklahoma State Offers Iowan Offensive Tackle Tyler Maro

Charlie Dickey has cast a wide net on 2021 offensive line offers, extending to guys in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Kansas, Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota, California, New Jersey, Illinois and now Iowa.

Tyler Maro announced an Oklahoma State offer this week. He is the 27th offensive lineman OSU has offered in the 2021 cycle, according to 247Sports.

Here is a breakdown of Maro as a prospect.

Who is He?

Listed at 6-foot-7, 260 pounds, Maro plays offensive tackle and defensive end for Assumption High School in Davenport, Iowa.

His athletic prowess doesn’t stop on the gridiron, though. In what’s become a theme in OSU’s 2021 class, Maro is a multisport athlete, also competing in basketball, baseball, and track and field.

Maro still has some filling out to do on his 6-7 frame, but he has a lot of good things going for him. Despite playing just about every sport available, he also boasts a 3.99 GPA and scored a 31 on the ACT.

Others Involved

With his smarts, Maro has an impressive list of Ivy League and Power Five offers.

He has offers from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn and Dartmouth if he wants to go the Ivy League route. However, he also has offers from the likes of UCLA, Arizona State, Nebraska, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, TCU, Wake Forest, Oregon and Syracuse.

In the Rankings

Maro is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. The 247Sports composite rankings list him as the No. 1,073 player in the 2021 cycle and the No. 95 offensive tackle.

In its own rankings, 247Sports has Maro as the No. 66 offensive tackle in the class.

OSU Up Front

The reason Dickey is going after such a big group of linemen in this 2021 cycle is what he’ll lose after the 2020 season. Projected starters Ry Schneider, Teven Jenkins, Dylan Galloway and Josh Sills are all entering their redshirt senior seasons.

OSU has done a good job the past few cycles stocking up on linemen, but it’s a position group that has to be worked on every year.

As of writing, Jenks product Logan Nobles is the only committed lineman for OSU in the 2021 class.
