Saginaw Valley State Linebacker Transfer Brandon Rawls Commits to Oklahoma State
Rawls recorded 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two interceptions last season.
The Cowboys picked up a playmaking linebacker from a lower level on Wednesday.
Saginaw Valley State linebacker Brandon Rawls announced his commitment to the Oklahoma State. Listed as a 6-foot-2, 240-pound redshirt junior for Saginaw Valley last season, Rawls also announced portal offers to Mississippi State, UTEP, Arkansas State and others.
First I would like to thank Saginaw Valley and more specifically @PrudhommeSVSU for these past 4 years and helping to make me the player I am today!! But with that being said I decided to use my last year of eligibility to play at the OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY!!⚫️🟠#GoPokes pic.twitter.com/UP6saOpZJF

In nine games in 2024, Rawls recorded 55 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Over the past three seasons at Saginaw Valley, Rawls had 153 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Saginaw Valley State is a Division-II school in Michigan that plays in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Rawls becomes the second transfer linebacker the Cowboys have added this offseason (joining Akron transfer Bryan McCoy) and the seventh portal pledge overall. Along with McCoy and West Georgia defensive line transfer Malik Charles, Rawls is the third defensive portal pledge OSU has picked up. OSU’s other portal commitments are from offensive linemen Kasen Carpenter (Tulsa) and Lavaka Taukeiaho (Weber State), tight end Jordan Owens (Central Arkansas), and running back Kalib Hicks (Oklahoma).
Oklahoma State’s roster and coaching staff are undergoing quite the refresh this offseason. OSU’s linebackers are set to be coached by Kap Dede under new defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. That room will be without starters Nick Martin (NFL), Collin Oliver (NFL) and Kendal Daniels (portal) in 2025. Justin Wright also finished out his eligibility this past season. As things stand, Jeff Roberson would be the position group’s only returner who played at least 100 defensive snaps in 2024, per PFF.
