Daily Bullets (Feb. 14): Beat the Frogs and Keep the Tournament Dream Alive
Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
Scores
Softball: Cowgirls 4, UCLA 3 + Cowgirls 9, Texas A&M 8
Baseball: Arkansas 12, Cowboys 2
Equestrian: Cowgirls 12, TCU 8
Three Thoughts
• Pokes get a shot to avenge a tough loss to TCU, play the Horned Frogs at 11am (PFB)
• Cowgirls are gutsy for playing in this Clearwater Tournament each year – what a massive win to get two top-ten wins so early in the year (PFB)
Not one, but TWO top 🔟 dubs today

• Steve Lutz and Co. are keeping their heads on straight after a couple of tough road losses:
“The season is not over,” Lutz said. “It’s not lost. We’ve made progress in the program. We were not in the running for going to the NCAA Tournament last year. At this point in the year, man, we were just hoping to get into the NIT or something.
“We have seven games left, that we can win a few of those games, especially the Quad 1 games, you’re going to go to the NCAA Tournament. [PFB]
Two Quotes
• HCS named O’Brate Stadium the best in the Big 12:
With one of the newest stadiums on this list, Oklahoma State installed a 360-degree concourse, including outfield decks, to cement baseball at the school for the long haul. Former President George W. Bush even christened it with the very first pitch. The Cowboys are 110-42-1 at O’Brate since moving into their new home. [HCS]
• ESPN’s Eli Lederman has the Pokes as his surprise team nationally in 2026:
How ’bout them (Oklahoma State) Cowboys? It won’t take much for first-year coach Eric Morris and his staff to improve upon the dire 1-11 season the fans in Stillwater endured last fall. It would also be naive to understate the challenge on their hands replacing more than 60% of the program’s scholarship roster from a year ago. [ESPN]
One Question
• As the Cowboys sit at 4-7 in Big 12 play with seven games to go, what are the odds the Pokes get to .500 in league play? Better or worse than 25 percent?
Non-OSU Bullets
• The lost art of sharing a bottle of wine
• Setting aside the USF propaganda, this article highlights what the Big 12 is considering from private equity
