The Cowboys have a second defensive pledge in their 2027 recruiting class.

Texas safety Chayce Davis announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Listed as the No. 763 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the class, Davis picked the Pokes over offers from Baylor, Iowa State, Arizona and others.

Listed at 6-feet, 173 pounds, Davis hails from Euless Trinity High School (TX), also known as the same high school Ollie Gordon attended.

He also competes on his school’s track team (a regular for Eric Morris recruits), where he has recorded a 10.59 100 meters, a 20.89 200 meters, a 13.5 11o hurdle, a 6-foot-6 high jump and a 23-1.75 long jump, according to MileSplit.

Highlights from Davis’ junior season so him primarily lining up as a traditional safety, though there was an instance of him at corner. He shows good ball skills and a willingness to use that track speed to get downhill and lay some lumber.

Davis announced his OSU offer via safeties coach Jordan Malone on Feb. 11, as the Cowboys were just his second D1 offer. He announced in early May that he had set up an official visit to Stillwater and took that visit at the beginning of June ahead of his commitment.

Davis’ commitment marks nine for the Cowboys in the 2027 cycle, but he is just the second defender to pledge to the class, joining Broken Arrow safety Bryson Brown.
