Four-Time South Dakota State Champion Gage Lohr Commits to Oklahoma State

David Taylor’s newest wrestling commit is already a four-time state champion, and he still has a year of high school left.

Gage Lohr announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Friday. Lohr won his fourth South Dakota state title last school year at 157 pounds.

Per Flo, Lohr is 262-15 as a high schooler. That included a 32-2 record as a junior this past season in which 94% of his bouts ended with bonus points.

Lohr stormed his way through his state bracket, going pin, tech, tech and a 10-5 decision in the final. Lohr’s state title as a sophomore came down at 138 pounds, where he went pin, pin, decision, major.

Between those two state titles, Lohr wrestled at the U17 U.S. Open in 2025, where he went 3-2. At Fargo in the summer of 2025, Lohr went 7-1 at 138 pounds in the 16U division, taking third with four tech falls and a pin. Then he wrestled up at 144 pounds for Super 32, where Lohr went 4-2.

Before committing to the Cowboys, Lohr took visits to Nebraska, Minnesota and South Dakota State and also at one point last summer had a Top 10 list of Missouri, OU, Wyoming, Cornell, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Dakota State and North Carolina.

Lohr joins what looks to be another solid class for Taylor and Co. That class also includes Ignacio Villasenor (No. 10 on Flo’s Big Board), Michael Romero (No. 17), Ladd Holman (No. 31) and Tanner Hodgins (No. 43).
