Passing the Tests

TCU head coach Gary Patterson found one area where he feels his Frogs have an edge on the Pokes.

(A)nd (Paterson’s) team certainly has faced stronger competition than Oklahoma State this season with FBS wins over SMU and Arkansas. Patterson sees that as an edge. “If there’s any advantage, to me, going into the ballgame, it’s that we’ve played two teams that had a high level of something,” [Washington Post]

TCU’s starters have definitely seen more minutes… because they haven’t blown the doors off SMU (a peer of Tulsa) and a midling-Razorback squad like the Pokes have done for their Power Five and American Athletic opponents.

Deadly Depth

The herd of Cowboy receivers is unique in not just their insane skill levels but also because of their unselfish personality.

“They’re unselfish, that’s really the biggest characteristic that helps you because they understand work ethic, they care for one another, they like to see each other succeed,” OSU offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich said.

That’s really important. It makes it fun to coach, because you’re not stressed. It doesn’t matter. Whoever’s open gets it, whatever coverage they’re going to roll to, you go the other way. You can’t predict it and you just go through the progressions and let the quarterback do what he does, and it makes it easier for everybody.” [Fox Sports]

How many times do you hear about receivers getting fussy about not getting their touches. No doubt, competitors want the ball but the agreeable nature of this group seems unusual.

Bet On It

Vegas perceives the Cowboys highly – and college football guru explains why.

7. Oklahoma State Cowboys (Rating: 135.9)

The Cowboys continue to climb the charts and led Pittsburgh 49-14 at the half last week. They opened the season at No. 14 and are No. 6 at Westgate, No. 4 in my average game grades and No. 8 in the FPI. Their 3-0 ATS record does not hurt their ranking. [ESPN Insider $$$]

The Cowboys have been killing the spreads this year, may see Vegas start to give them a little more room on the spreads. CBS says OSU will have a hard time covering for what it’s worth.
