OSU and Texas are trending upwards after a big week.

Oklahoma State landed a commitment over the weekend from three-star offensive tackle prospect Monroe Mills, pushing the Cowboys’ class from No. 6 to No. 5 in the Big 12 recruiting rankings. Mills’ pledge gives OSU 14 in the class and four offensive linemen overall, a hefty haul in Charlie Dickey’s first go-round at OSU.

Here’s an updated look at where the rankings read now with Mills headlining the biggest non-Texas developments of the week within the conference.

TEAM TOTAL COMMITS TOTAL POINTS
Oklahoma 15 236.96
Texas 12 228.94
Iowa State 18 180.61
Kansas 22 172.11
Oklahoma State 14 170.46
Kansas State 18 169.96
TCU 11 161.32
Texas Tech 14 159.97
Baylor 13 151.57
West Virginia 12 151.48

The biggest Texas development was indeed a big one: five-star running back Bijan Robinson committed to the Longhorns on Friday to give them the No. 1 ranked player in their 2020 class. His pledge only further’s UT’s lead on the rest of the league in per-commitment player rankings. Texas sits at 93.25, buoyed by Robinson’s 99.04 rating, well ahead of OU, TCU and OSU.

Rank Team Per-player avg.
1 Texas 93.25
2 OU 91.26
3 TCU 87.60
4 Oklahoma State 85.97
5 West Virginia 85.47
6 Iowa State 85.31
7 Texas Tech 85.21
8 Baylor 84.90
9 Kansas State 84.43
10 Kansas 83.39

Here’s what you may have missed in the Big 12 over the last week.

1. Texas lands its first five-star

The aforementioned Robinson is the No. 20 overall player in the 2020 class and the No. 3 running back in the country according to 247Sports. His pledge boosted Texas well into the top-20 of the national rankings, despite Texas thus far only holding 12 commitments. If the staff keeps this pace up, a top-10 class is nearly a lock. Alabama has the No. 2 overall recruiting class in 2020 with 22 commitments, and its per-player average is 93.26.

2. OSU jumps K-State

OSU is back to No. 5 in the overall conference rankings, leap-frogging Kansas State after Monroe Mills’ pledge. Mills is the lowest-rated OSU pledge in the cycle with a 247Sports rating of 83.16, which would put him rated ahead of three of K-State’s 18 commitments in the class. OSU is pushing ahead with quality over quantity, and should be firmly in the second tier of the Big 12 this cycle behind only OU and Texas.

3. Tech beats other Big 12 schools for a defensive player

Not a sentence you read every day! But yes, Texas Tech did in fact win a recruiting battle over other Big 12 programs. Last week, three-star defensive end LB Moore, a 6-foot-4 recruit from Amarillo, committed to the Red Raiders over Kansas, Baylor and Purdue.
