Boone Pickens to Miss Oklahoma State’s Season Opener
Boone Pickens was planning on going to all seven Oklahoma State home games this season as his alma mater marches toward what we all hope is another successful season.
Unfortunately, Pickens will have to miss the first home game on Thursday against Missouri State. Pickens made it all the way to the airport and his King Air ride in Dallas before he decided to turn around and get some rest instead.
Disappointed and apologies. Made it to airplane taking me to #okstate game. Felt exhausted and unsteady. Will be at game in spirit, not in person. Thanks for understanding. #tv4me

It was clear he wanted to be there in person — especially for the first game of the season — but the realization that his health is more important and he has a future to prep for dissuaded him.
He felt “exhausted and felt a little unsteady,” a spokesperson for Pickens said. All of this unfortunately comes a day after he said he planned on being in Stillwater for all of OSU’s home schedule.
Pickens will attempt to make it for next Saturday’s game against South Alabama.
