Brad Lundblade Named as Finalist for Top Scholar-Athlete Award
Senior center Brad Lundblade was selected as one of 13 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, given by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame to the top scholar-athlete in the nation.
The fourth-year starting center and former walk-on holds a 3.88 GPA and is a marketing major. He also recently told PFB that he thinks he could excel as a U.S. president but that his dream job would be something in commercial real estate if and when the NFL is no longer a possibility.
He’ll have some spending money if he wants to further his education, too.
Each finalist receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class, presented by Fidelity Investments. The individual selected as the absolute best and the winner of the Campbell Trophy has his postgraduate scholarship increased to a total of $25,000, which is endowed by HealthSouth. The award comes with a 25-pound bronze trophy. [Football Foundation]
Lundblade recently reaffirmed his value on the field with his return at West Virginia. He missed both the Baylor and Texas games with an injury that caused some shuffling of an already thin offensive line. Upon Lundblade’s return, the Cowboy running game showed immediate improvement and so did pass protection. It was only the second game this season in which an OSU quarterback wasn’t sacked.
Here’s a complete list of the Campbell Trophy finalists.
