The Cowboys’ strong start in the 2026 recruiting cycle continued on Saturday with the addition of a big tight end from the Beehive State.

Bryton Niu announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. Out of Lehi, Utah, Niu is listed at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds. He chose the Cowboys over offers from Utah, Arizona, Cal, Oregon State, Washington State and others.

If his name sounds familiar, it’s probably because Bryton is the brother of former OSU quarterback commit Jett Niu. Jett flipped his commitment from OSU to Bedlam rival OU on signing day and signed with the Sooners. For what it’s worth, most of the staff that Jett committed to was let go not long after signing day.

Utah State was Bryton’s first college offer, which is relevant because OSU hired Utah State tight ends coach DJ Tialavea this offseason.

As a junior at Lehi High School this past season, Niu caught 24 passes for 261 yards, according to MaxPreps. Niu is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports, which lists him as the No. 80 tight end in the class and the No. 22 player from the state of Utah.

Niu is commitment No. 10 in the Cowboys’ 2026 class and the fourth pledge who plays on the offensive side of the ball. OSU’s class ranks 25th nationally and fifth in the Big 12, according to 247Sports.
