Oklahoma State was finally able to unveil its prized gem of this season’s recruiting class, a player who would’ve been the gem of any recruiting class in the country.

OSU basketball sent out an interview with Cade Cunningham, the No. 2 player in the 2020 recruiting class, after Cunningham signed his letter of intent to OSU on Wednesday. The contents of said interview might make OSU fans want to find a way to time travel to next year.

“I want to have a national championship banner hanging up,” Cunningham said in the video. “That’s my No. 1 goal. If I’m here for four years, then so be it. But, my plan is to be here for one year, win a national championship and move on and be a Cowboy for life and always be able to come back and have a good time and represent my school.”

Are you still conscious?

The program hasn’t won a national championship since going back-to-back in 1945 and 1946. Although it’s unlikely that Cunningham is even in Stillwater for back-to-back years, he said he is living his dream, and OSU and Mike Boynton are helping it continue.

“I think it was always a dream,” Cunningham said. “I didn’t know that I would be in this position until last year whenever I saw my hard work starting to pay off, but it was always a dream for me to be, you know, top guy in my class and going into the NBA as the guy.

“But now that I’m here, having a coach like Coach Boynton, he’s wanting me to be that. He’s gonna push me to be that, and he’s not afraid to coach me. So, that’s something that I’m looking forward to.”

Cunningham chose OSU over blue bloods North Carolina and Kentucky in what was a roller coaster of a recruiting process, but Cunningham said he felt good when he hit send on his commitment video last week.

“It was a long process,” Cunningham said. “I don’t think I drew it out, but I really took my time with it. I looked at all my schools thoroughly, so just being able to press post and put that video out there, it felt great.”
