I’m back! I haven’t done the Bullets in months now, but I wanted to say how good of a job Steven has been doing. Hope you guys have been enjoying his work. We’re thrilled to have him on the #squad and excited for his future here. Hope I can live up to the new bar he’s set.

Tre Flowers on his position change

Ramon Richards’ move to strong safety has bumped Flowers over to Jordan Sterns’ old spot. Flowers sounds confident about the move, and it gives OSU a ton of versatility on defense.

While talk at the safety position has centered mostly on Ramon Richards’ transition from corner to strong safety, Flowers is transitioning, too.

“Tre is going to be a good free safety,” said position coach Dan Hammerschmidt. “He is the best tackler we have right now, so that is huge at that position. He’s long, he’s got everything you need, plus he can play that deep middle and he is smart and knows the defense.” [NewsOK]

I’m excited about Ramon as the X-factor this year. It gives OSU’s young corners an opportunity to prove themselves and lets Flowers do Flowers things. Hammer went on to say he thinks Flowers is going to play free safety in the NFL someday.

Gundy talks SI

Gundy recognizes the SI thing for what it was — a mishap by an organization that trusted a writer with the wrong intentions. It sounds like he’s past it.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Gundy told “Voice of the Cowboys” Larry Reece about the recent attention. “For the athletic department and the football team. Mason Rudolph has been at Oklahoma State for four years and we can worry about what happened … I think in 2013, but it would be a waste of time.

“This is a big deal for Oklahoma State to be on the cover. We have a good football team and guys need to live up to expectations. It is a great accomplishment not only for this team, but for the young men that have been there before.” [Tulsa World]

I’m with Gundy here. I think it’s a false equivalence to say that Thayer = SI and SI = Thayer. Organizations are only as good as the people that are there. He is no longer there, and they have a lot of good writers and thinkers at this time.
