Underrated?
James Washington and hyped newcomer Tyron Johnson get loads of media attention – but Gundy sees the significance of another starting receiver.
“James is such a deep threat,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said at Big 12 media days. “We have thrown the ball to McCleskey some down the field, but his elusiveness, he’s a guy that’s really hard to really two-below if you had him in a phone booth, not that there’s phone booths anymore.
But he’s very elusive in the middle of the field and has great football savvy, very cerebral, very intelligent. So we can use him in multiple positions. We can move him around a lot, and we can ask him to do things that we haven’t asked other inside receivers to do in our system.” [Yahoo Sports]
Can you imagine scheming for the four wides OSU will throw out? Two slot receivers with Josh Stewarty-evasiveness in Tyron and McCleskey to go with darn near sure-thing jump ball artists in Ateman and Washington will be so lethal. Mason knows.
Stillwater! Excited for the next five months with you. It's going to be a ride. The orange and black goes back on in no time ⏳‼️

Contentment at the Corners
The Oklahoman reported on Friday – it sounds like Gundy may have his pair at the cornerback position.
(AJ) Green, 6-1, 180 pounds, and (Rodarius) Williams, 6-foot, 180, both have good size for the position, which hasn’t always been the case for OSU cornerbacks.
“I like the bodies that they have,” Gundy said. “We’ve had to move guys around back there for several years, but I think now we’ve finally settled on some young players that can stay back there because they have the bodies to play that type of position for several years.” [NewsOK]
Getting a pair of big athletic corners settled at the corners would be incredible (remember the Justin Gilbert-Ashton Lampkin years?)
OSU and NCAA Notes
Ten (semi)bold predictions on OSU’s 2017 season….Chris Simms admitted receiving hundred-dollar handshakes at Texas (can’t imagine what Applewhite got)….SEC running backs don’t (regularly) dominate the NFL….Settlement in place for the 2015 homecoming crash victims
Props to another Cowboy getting his tour card.
