Biggest of shout outs to Sister Bullets who got me a ticket to join her in Arlington this weekend – family that bleeds orange is an unbeatable combo.

Scores

Men’s Basketball: Wichita State 60, Pokes 51

OSU Bullets

• The Pokes released the conference slate for the 2022 football season

• Excellent primer on which OSU Cowboys (seniors) can join Brock Martin and return to Stillwater next year

• Two intangibles when you consider the rankings and the intangibles impacting them – did the Pokes benefit from Brian Kelley leaving Notre Dame and will it lessen the impact if OSU beats Baylor if Gerry Bohannon isn’t playing?

The committee has been known to weigh various unusual circumstances while ranking teams, like downplaying the importance of a loss because it came while a team’s quarterback was injured. Would it give, say, Oklahoma State the nod over Notre Dame because the Irish would be playing without their head coach?

[The Ringer]

• Missed this yesterday – Cowboy Wrestling remains No. 5 in the country

• Always insightful – what Mike Gundy had to say in his weekly presser leading up to the Baylor game and what Baylor’s Dave Aranda had to say

• As you chew on the Pokes’ chances on Saturday, here’s some fodder when you consider either quarterback playing for the Bears:

(Spencer) Sanders is a lot more seasoned than Baylor backup quarterback Blake Shapen, whose first college start came in last week’s 27-24 win over Texas Tech. (Baylor quarterback Gerry) Bohanon missed that game with a hamstring injury and is questionable this weekend.

[Tulsa World]

To recap – Sanders has experience on both but redshirt freshman Blake Shapen, like TCU’s Chandler Morris and Tech’s Donovan Smith before him, could be in for a long day Saturday.

John Smith landed a commitment from a multiple time All-American, a Stillwater High School wrestler

Big time TV numbers from Bedlam – not top ten on the year but still great.

• Money well spent.

• What a fun angle on the Brennan Presley return from Saturday:

Non-OSU Bullets

• Fun piece on Garth Brooks – the magician in the checkered shirt
• Finished this read on negotiating – solid but long winded
• Liked these ideas for Advent (faith-based)

“In the gym, if you experience no stimulus your muscles won’t grow. If you step under 10,000 pounds your body will break.

Life is similar.

Too much challenge makes life hard, but so does too little.”

James Clear
