Headed up to Boston
Was Jimmy Garoppolo getting shipped to San Francisco Mason Rudolph’s gain?
Tom Brady may still be playing like he’s in his mid-20s but will be 41 next season, and the Patriots traded both of his backups away in 2017. At some point, they need to identify that heir to the throne again, and the draft is the obvious place to do that.
Someone like Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph would provide the perfect mix of talent and need to sit and learn before he takes the reins. [PFF]
YES PLEASE. Assuming Patriots’ legend Bill Belichick would be around to do any grooming, it’s hard to imagine a better landing spot for No. 2.
Green Pastures
Sean Sutton has found a place in college basketball where he (and few others) can thrive: in Lubbock, Texas.
“We’ve got a good team. It’s been fun,” said Sean, who is an adviser to head coach Chris Beard.
A less formal but appropriate title would be “right-hand man.”
“Sean, simply stated, is impacting winning in our program,” Beard said. “Our players gravitate to him because of his experience as a player and a coach and, even more important, because of the type of person he is. Sean Sutton is a truth-teller. There’s no (bullbleep) to him. He’s very transparent.
“Sean has no ego. I don’t think we would have won as many games as we have if he wasn’t with us.” [TulsaWorld]
There’s no telling where this job ends but it’s more than a feel-good story to see a Cowboy out there thriving.

Not sure about what this says.
This is weird and means nothing, but OSU's last three coaches (current one included) are a combined 3-14 in conference play at their respective schools this year. https://t.co/byoIkWVrLA

Coach Cal nailing it from halfcourt late in this video is impressive.

Props to this Cowboy for landing the top job at one of the top juco’s.
Congratulations to @CoachZAllen the new head coach at @Norsemen_FB. Former #okstate walk-on and one of our own. Hard work, discipline and structure pays off. Best of luck. #GoPokes pic.twitter.com/bnHGZVXuV7
