The pleasure of rooting for Goliath is that you can expect to win. The pleasure of rooting for David is that, while you don’t know what to expect, you stand at least a chance of being inspired.  – Michael Lewis

OSU Bullets
• Most Viewed of the Week (No.1): Gundy with an All-Time “Your Mom” Comment… To His Son

This is the kind of thing a supremely confident individual has to say on the record. An individual that’s comfortable in his skin and unconcerned with being “politically correct”.

Maybe it’s something someone trying to get out ahead of Bob/Nathan Simmons situation would say also.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No.2): Big-12 Wide Recruiting Update

On a per-recruit basis, OSU is exactly where they should be concerning the 2020 football recruiting class: No. 4 behind Texas, OU, and TCU and ahead of West Virginia, Texas Tech, and Iowa State. TCU should finish around OSU with better proximity to recruiting and a comparable win-loss record, Texas Tech just below. Iowa State and West Virginia should nearly always finish below with generally worse records and much further proximity from Texas.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No.3): Effects of Hiring Cade Cunningham’s Brother as a Coach

When you hire someone’s close connections as an assistant coach, you increase your chances to land that player. What we’re now seeing is that when you hire said connection, other programs decrease their own chances.

In other news – it appears Cunningham is going to ride out this process with incremental cuts in his “list” and potentially a recruitment that goes the distance.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No.4): When Texas Decided OSU’s Fate

It was interesting that OU was so delusional about their invitation to the Pac-12 apart from Texas. For a national power like the Sooners to get caught in a powerplay with the commissioner and the Longhorns, it’s just wild that they didn’t have a better pulse on their opportunities with other leagues.

Long after the league is dead and gone, the wildest thing about the whole scene is the big personalities, their sense of pride, and belief that they didn’t have to operate equally with their peers like the other power five leagues did.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No.5): Why Sean Gleeson is a Great Fit at OSU

Gleeson checks a number of Gundy’s boxes: young (cheap), talented playcaller, willing to play within Gundy’s system, and a quarterback guy. Because most coaches want to hire with familiarity or bank on experience at the FBS-level, it doesn’t seem like Gundy has to fight for the Yurcich/Gleeson hires which is interesting.

While both unknowns have been brought in and expected to run the Cowboy offense, I think Gundy has genuine respect for their acumen and the system has been altered a bit by each guy that comes to coach it as well.
