Mad Cow Disease
Heartland College Sports has an unusual pick for who will be the Cowboys’ first loss of 2017.
Ah, the new conference favorites. Many have the Cowboys winning the Big 12 title this year and I have seen some predict the Pokes to go undefeated or finish the season with one loss. The biggest question is who can knock off the Cowboys: Oklahoma? Kansas State? Look no further than the Tom Herman led Longhorns.
I know what you are thinking, Texas, really? The Cowboys have a back-loaded schedule this year and their first big road test will be in Austin. [Heartland College Sports]
Rumor has it Gundy is opening up a food truck outside Darrell K. Royal selling barbecued Bevo. He’s on a roll having not lost in Austin since a four-point loss back in ’08.
Blind Side Succession
Encouraging rumors coming out about the future at left tackle.
Dylan Galloway from Coppell, Texas came in and was impressive from the start and reminded Henson of redshirt freshman starting left guard Marcus Keyes, not as much in build as in maturity and savvy. Keyes had done a really good job in 2016 and the thought was that Galloway might be able to do the same at left tackle for the 2017 season.
Galloway did not disappoint and those of us observing believe that if the apparent first choice does not work out in fall camp that Galloway is the likely answer. Even if he is not the starter, now he can be groomed to be the starter in 2018, so an emergency doesn’t develop for left tackle in the spring of 2018. [GoPokes $]
We’re all jacked about Aaron Cochran protecting Rudolph’s blindside but it’s great to hear there’s help behind him. And for 2018 when both starters at tackle are gone.
