Mother’s/April Fools Day
Bill Haisten broke some details around the Dax Hill recruiting fiasco of Mother’s Day 2018.
The Justice Hill tweet was retweeted more than 230 times and liked more than 1,100 times.
Was a Dax Hill commitment imminent? Would the OSU people soon celebrate a huge recruiting victory?
Nothing is imminent, says Derrick Hill, the father of Justice and Dax.
“They were having some brotherly fun,” Derrick Hill said. “It should be taken with a grain of salt.” [TulsaWorld]
There you have it folks – apparently just comments made in jest.
Back of the Class
So CBS thinks the Pokes have the easiest schedule in the Big 12 in 2018, let’s hear the justification of that claim.
If Oklahoma State wins the Big 12 this season, you can bet its schedule will be used against it in a court of CFP worthiness. The nonconference features a home game against Boise State, but that’s not worth as much as it may have been five years ago. Its other two games are against Missouri State and South Alabama.
Where Oklahoma State will likely have a case is that if it beats both Oklahoma and TCU this season, it will have beaten both on the road, and both in the final three weeks of the regular season. So the memory of those wins would be fresh in the minds of the CFP committee. [CBS Sports]
From a competitive standpoint, this is exactly how you want to do a rebuilding year. Give your quarterback a chance to warm to the offense and see if you can’t be playing your best football as you come down the stretch.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Must-read on Oklahoma State golf and Alan Bratton….NYT says it’s business as usual on the grassroots hoops’ circuits (despite FBI investigations)….Josh Holliday named The Oklahoman’s Big 12 coach of the year….No Pokes in Athlon’s top 25 for the fall
You’ll definitely want to subscribe to this – Phillip has been fantastic on the site and would only expect the same here.
