OSU Bullets

• This Oklahoman deep dive into Oklahoma State conference-affiliation was great. If you read it, you’ll completely understand this:

All because they lost their conference footing and found it again at the most inopportune time. If Oklahoma A&M hadn’t been left at the altar in 1926, or had been reunited a decade earlier than 1957, the Cowboys’ history would be much more flush with success. [NewsOK]

Hint: Oklahoma State was in the Missouri Valley conference and wanted to join the (Big 12’s predecessor).

Here are some fun ideas for who OSU should schedule with their open Power 5 slots in the football schedule

As the NCAA lets college athletes be paid for endorsements, what kind of numbers are likely to be thrown around?

I don’t know, but clearly there would be a market for Sooners and Cowboys. My advertising friend says celebrity endorsements work.

He said all kinds of factors would affect the pay, but he offered a few estimates for, say, a car-dealer campaign.

Maybe $1,000-$2,500 for a one-time commercial. Maybe $5,000 a month for an extended campaign. Perhaps even a year-long deal in the $50,000-$75,000 range. [NewsOK]

Can you imagine how much Bryant Reeves would have made for basketball goal companies? Scott Pierce from a dental group? A dozen different OU players under Stoops by a bail bondsman?
