Great Expectations
I’m fresh out of optimism but this line helped make sense of the way 2017 Cowboy Football has impacted it’s fans.
If the Cowboys win another nine or 10 games next season despite the loss of all of that talent and all of those senior cogs, the surprise should be minimal.
But that doesn’t mean all 10-win seasons are alike, that all 10-win seasons feel the same. Sometimes you win 10, but darn if you didn’t expect to win 12 or 13. [TulsaWorld]
A surprising ten wins in 2015 feels dramatically different than stumbling backward into it in 2017.
Grateful Gundy
Part of what must factor into Mike Gundy’s laid-back nature is the type of athletes he’s brought into Stillwater. After accidentally working through the annual Thanksgiving dinner the Cowboys work, he heard good reports of had served.
Gundy received a list of about a dozen players, many of them seniors, with quarterback Mason Rudolph among them.
It was the morning after the most painful loss of the season, yet some of the team’s stars were on hand to help feed hungry people in their community.
“Mason is a guy that threw a couple of interceptions and felt like he had an overthrow late,” Gundy said. “He had a good game, but on his standards, it wasn’t as good as he wanted it to be, but he showed up the next day and handed out food to people that are homeless.
“That’s the kind of kids that we have here. That’s what makes me the most proud. It’s a special group, from top to bottom.” [NewsOK]
Every program tends to have good stories like this that come out but Rudolph sure shines comparatively to his peer in Norman.

Jobs like this seem it’d be a great fit for an up and coming offensive coordinator.
