Daily Bullets (Oct 29) – Processing the Texas Win
My goodness – did last night really happen? Last night was an all-time game in Stillwater if for nothing but a failed Texas comeback attempt and Cornelius’ magnum opus.
Founded Confidence
Mike Gundy may have been more confident about last night’s game then all of us – the subtle confidence from early last week might have told us something had we been looking for it.
But now the Cowboys are flirting with ninth place in the Big 12, and the hair and the dog and the stripping to reveal a bare chest or a ref’s shirt aren’t quite so charming.
“We’ve been very lucky,” Gundy said. “We’ve won so many games and we’ve established a culture with really quality young people. I’m enjoying everything going on.
“People can say ‘well, how could you enjoy what you’re doing, because your record … is 4-3?’ Well, I am. I enjoy the challenge. I want to see us play better. I want to see how much better we can be in two weeks (preparation). That’s just the way I see it.” [NewsOK]
These comments were from before the Texas game and now we know the answer – two weeks of preparation did quite a bit for the Pokes.
Homecoming Hero
So about Taylor Cornelius’ masterpiece – who the heck saw that coming?
Taylor Cornelius was key. The fifth-year senior and former walk-on played the best game of his career, completing 23 of 34 passes for 321 yards, three scores, and no picks. He and Tylan Wallace connected 10 times for 222 yards and two scores, and with OSU’s 17-point lead down to three points midway through the fourth quarter, Cornelius was responsible for two huge runs, too: a 15-yarder to set up first-and-goal at the UT 1 and a 10-yard score on third-and-goal.
In need of one final first down to ice the clock late, he again kept the ball and moved the chains, sealing the win. Things got chippy from there, of course, but don’t let that distract you from Cornelius’ awesome night. [SB Nation]
TC elevated his game to a completely new level last night thinning out the skipped rocks in the flat and putting the ball on a line where Tylan Wallace alone knew where to get it.

Iowa State over Texas Tech met expectations.
TC played horrible against K State and Texas Tech, and had 5 total TDs vs the top 2 defenses in the league in UT and ISU. CFB is fun and always unpredictable.
