A weird tidbit on the OSU-West Virginia series here:

A pair of teams with one loss in conference play that are trying to keep themselves in the Big 12 title hunt – and the Cowboys (6-1) are still thinking playoff if they can win out.

This has been a weird series, with the favorite losing three of the past four. The favorite this time: Oklahoma State by 7½.  [Yahoo Sports]

Weird indeed. Pokes handling the initial team with Geno Smith, Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin then the Pokes laying an egg in 2013.

Momentum?

While it’s been well chronicled, it’s still hard to decide to be stoked about this defense or rationally appeased.

If you subtract the 90-yard dagger, Oklahoma State’s defense was country strong: On a total of 68 other offensive plays, Texas got only 193 yards (2.8 per snap).

The 2017 Longhorns aren’t world-beaters. They aren’t even Maryland-beaters. For the fourth consecutive season, Texas has a seven-game record of 3-4. [TulsaWorld]

Shutting down a stable of blue-chip running backs – specifically a 250 pound Seahawk heir – it’s encouraging. But the true test will be shutting down the run against a solid, balanced attack (see Mountaineers, West Virginia).

The shockwave felt from the basketball scandal surely was felt away from guys shooting into peach baskets.

Mike Leach has turned into that crazy person you broke up with in junior high.

Everybody makes mistakes… but Baylor? Woof.

Will OSU suit up in the home locker room in 2019?

Would never happen in Oklahoma, Bill.
