OSU Bullets

• Iowa State opens as a three-point favorite over the Pokes – ESPN’s SP+ has the Cyclones winning 22-21 (Twitter + ESPN)

• ICYMI – here’s the recaps of the South Alabama loss:

• USA Today had the Pokes registering on their “misery index” (fitting), noting big picture items to be concerned about:

If you’re the big picture fan, this might be viewed as merely part of the natural cycle that occurs at a program without blueblood status. But with all the changes in college football − including name, image and likeness rights and the premium on success in the transfer portal − this could also be interpreted as a program struggling to adapt to a new style of roster-building after doing things a certain way for more than a decade.

• Interesting notes from ProFootballFocus and their grades from Saturday’s disaster:

  • Alan Bowman – 72.3 grade, 10.1 higher than Gunnar Gundy’s 62.2 and 15.5 higher than Garrett Rangel’s 56.8
  • No other offensive player noted scored in the 70s
  • Collin Oliver led defenders at 78.9, followed by Justin Kirkland at 74.2

• CBS Sports still have the Pokes in a bowl game, a welcome sight (CBS Sports)

• Here’s your feel good OSU post as we balance out the weekend – husband of the year here:

• A little Hill on Hill violence here:

Non-OSU Bullets

• I’m barely passable with golf understanding but Kyle Porter’s golf newsletter has great nuggets on other topics
• The attack on dawn (faith-based)
• Agree or disagree – are great thoughts found while walking?

Won’t ever be another Mike Leach.
