Crabtree for MVP

Rudolph is a Heisman candidate, Justice Hill is an All-Big 12 back and OSU’s receivers would be an upgrade for 15 NFL teams… So why did the offense stall against TCU?

Only a week after it appeared as if Oklahoma State would be able to score at will on anyone, TCU coach Gary Patterson had some answers. He played his safeties back to prevent Mason Rudolph from taking the lid off the defense and trusted the Horned Frogs’ defensive line to be sound against the run.

With Oklahoma State missing the entire right side of its offensive line, Patterson’s plan worked — as was indicative in that three-and-out late in the first half where Oklahoma State could have altered the narrative of the afternoon.

Right tackle Zachary Crabtree’s status remained the same Monday: Day to day. Which means Oklahoma State could trot out Jenkins and Wilson for their second career starts Saturday at Texas Tech. [TulsaWorld]

An all-conference run blocking right tackle appears to be the missing piece (against brilliant defensive minds with athletes).

Desirable Candidate

ESPN lists Mike Gundy as one of six Power Five coaches who could be looking to move up in the next coaching carousel.

In June, Gundy finally agreed to a new contract with his alma mater, where he’s 107-51 overall and 89-32 since 2008. Gundy has had chances to leave and stayed put, but if he doesn’t get Oklahoma State to the College Football Playoff, might he think about a change of scenery? Gundy, 50, could be a good fit for some of the likely SEC vacancies. [ESPN Insider $$$]

Color me disinterested in the annual passes made at Gundy. The dude has all the money (to be comfortable) and a rolling, infinite contract.

Now, for a crazy, completely unfounded thought – if Dabo Swinney goes to Alabama someday, could we see Gundy pull a Terry Don? Clemson has an incredible setup.

OSU and NCAA Notes

SI says OSU is the second most watchable team in the country….Get your Big 12 Championship game tickets on Friday….Tramel has some thoughts on confidence and the Cowboy offense….Baylor lost their most experienced receiver to injury….CRFF has a solid look into the Texas Tech offense….James Washington has two of the five longest plays in the Big 12 in 2017

It’s not the Rimington (best center) but having the smartest player is one heck of a deal.

The frequency of football games is so much fun.

Hearing in a couple weeks.

Coaches/administrators/fans everywhere are asking these questions.
