Early Offer Puts Cowboys Near Top of List, Says 2020 Cornerback Daran Branch
After a recent visit to Oklahoma State’s campus for “The Show,” 2020 cornerback Daran Branch, a three-star prospect from Amite, La., picked up a scholarship from the Cowboys. He says the Pokes are now instantly in the top tier of programs he’s considering.
“They have been added to the list of one of the biggest offers I have so far,” Branch told PFB. “I thought the campus was great, and I think [the staff] made a great decision by pulling the trigger [with an offer.]
Branch, who is listed at an astoundingly long 6-2 and 175 pounds, also has offers from Kansas, Auburn, La. Tech, Memphis and Ole Miss. He’s visited several of those, but OSU stood out to him even among the big programs who have jumped in the mix for him early.
“It was pretty big,” Branch said of OSU’s campus. “It also had nice looking facilities. Everything was close.”
Branch is one of roughly 10 targets OSU has made offers to at cornerback in the 2020 class, among them Lorando Johnson, Jaylon Jones, Myles Slusher and recent offer Jalen Kimber, but he’s the first non-Texas or Oklahoma prospect. Given his length and size, Branch could be a nice complement to 2020 commit Jabbar Muhammad at corner, giving OSU both a mid-sized corner with speed and a jumbo corner who can do it all.
