Florida Power Forward Duncan Demuth Commits to Oklahoma State

Class of 2018 power forward prospect Duncan Demuth of Seminole, Fla. announced Sunday night he is committed to Oklahoma State and coach Mike Boynton.

Here’s his lengthy commitment message he shared on Twitter.

“First I would like to thank God for all of my blessings and allowing me to play the sport I love. I would also like to thank my parents and family members for the opportunities they have given me and for always believing in me. Next to coach Thorpe, coach Walker, coach Ed, coach Nate, The Athlete and many others for always pushing me to be my best and never accepting less, also helping me chase my dream to play college basketball. My girlfriend for always having my back through this tough decision, and to all of my friends and teammates for being there, your guys support means the world to me. I would like to thank all the coaches who recruited me, but at this time I would like to commit to Coach Boynton and Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!!”

Demuth chose the Cowboys over other offers from Florida State, Iowa State, Princeton, South Carolina and others. He had 14 other scholarship opportunities according to 247Sports.com.

Demuth’s commitment comes just a little over a week following his official visit to Stillwater for homecoming. The 6-foot-8 prospect is the first commitment of the class following the recent decommitment of shooting guard Antwann Jones.

With Demuth in the fold, OSU’s focus will now likely shift down — specifically in height, as OSU fills its backcourt for 2018. This commitment could also mean long-time power forward targets Yor Anei and Reggie Chaney, both of whom have made trips to Stillwater in the past month, might be out of consideration.

As OSU looks for pieces to complement Demuth, keep an eye on Elijah Weaver — a four-star PG target set to make his commitment on Monday — as well as newly-offered JUCO small forward Trevelin Queen.
